Review: The Holdovers

I really like this movie. I haven't been alive in the 70s, during which this movie is set, but the aesthetic reminds me of the 90s and the early aughts. It also reminds me of living alone as a college student in Los Baños, especially during Holy Week when everyone else is back to their homes. Finally, the plot reminds me of Murakami without the fantasy components - simple, unassuming, mundane, but full of heart.

Cillian Murphy deserves the win for Oppenheimer, but Giamatti is a really close second.

4/5.
