On Being Healthy
I had my company's annual checkup last Monday and discovered that my body is failing... slowly. I have high sugar, cholesterol, uric acid, and SGPT. My BMI is considered obese, and I am also on the lookout for hypertension. No excuses here: I really let myself go for the last five years, building a bad habit of eating food whenever I am in a bad mood, which is often.
Oh yeah. I can only eat chicken, pork (without the fat), scaly fish, leafy vegetables, fruits (but not so much since fructose is also bad for you if taken a lot), and as much as possible, no carbs like rice, bread, and pasta. Apparently, everything delicious in the world is bad for you. Would you look at that.
Anyway, what a world to live in, having all these maintenance meds just to keep living longer. It's almost science fiction except it's real, it's normal, and ten million people - hell, probably even a hundred million or billion people are taking it in the regular. Whoa, Black Betty.
